I made this quick card for a friend that has had 3 major surgeries in the past 18 months.  She is always cheerful & happy.  Can't say I would be!  We had a flurry of activity yesterday.  The only thing left is a little painting, finishing the baseboards and the floor.  Can't wait to get things back together.  We leave for a week in Colorado Sat. so I will not have my room together for a while. I am just going to take my time and not buy until I am sure of what I want.

I used to make a lot of pink and yellow cards in the spring.  This Great Impressions stamp  certainly says spring to me. I layered two ribbons on the side, not sure if that shows in the picture.  I am struggling to make cards these days.  I don't have a lot of birthdays in May.  I sure do miss making cards for the VA birthdays.

Our granddaughter left this morning and I am  late in posting.  I made this birthday card for a friend.  The folder that I used is a Cuttlebug one and I inked the folder and then ran it through the bug.  Colors are Cherry Cobbler and white.

I got a couple of cards made yesterday.  Here is an anniversary card I made.  The stamp is Hero Arts.  I have always like this stamp a lot.  Don't know if it shows but I inked the folder with Versamark ink and then embossed with clear powder.  I'm going to have to try that again with a colored powder.

No card today.  I spent yesterday  morning trying to come up with something new for the gift shop.  Since we are now the visitors center we are getting a lot more traffic which is a good thing.  I spent the afternoon rearranging the  shop and taking all the Easter things out.  Still need to go back and dust.  I have great memories of my Aunt's Climatis vine next to her back door when I growing up.  I planted two and until this year have had one or two flowers.  It is glorious this year.

I made this card for an Aux. member who had partial hip surgery, then had to go in again for some type adjustment and now is recovering from yet another surgery to clean up a pesky infection.  That's a lot of pain in a very short time.  We had rain last night finally!  Today the sun is shining and everything looks very green.  I love spring!

I have a last bluebonnet die card to show you.  Originally I used navy as the card base and popped up the top layer.  Didn't do a thing for me, way too dark.  I decided to us yellow and like it much better.  I need to start start working on May cards.  This is a busy week. The dry wall is up and the finisher comes today.  I am going to order window coverings and pick a paint color.  The floor goes in Thurs. There is to be a baby shower here on Sat. & if the stuff is still in the great room we had to take out of the bedroom during this construction so be it!  Maybe we will have the shower in my new room.  Now that's a thought.

Wed. was shoe box and here is the card I made.  I inked  an embossing folder on the front side and ran it through the bug.  The sentiment is inked on a folder from StampoinUp.   Colors are Marina Mist and white.

I made this card for a swap.  I can't seem to get away from the Almost Artichoke paper.  Today I pared it with pear and used this great die I borrowed from Sharon.  I used a  doily that I stamped with Versamark for the background.  Isn't this corner punch a nice one?  I never use it because I always get 3 corners right and one that I mess up.  Today I turned the punch over where I could see where  to position the paper and it worked really well. The flower back ground was inked on a clear acrylic block.

Sharon gave  me this stamps "Texas Wildflowers" to p[lay with.  This is what I came up with.It  is a Texana Designs stamp that  she bought @ a thrift store.  The bluebonnet stamp is Dead Beat Designs  Love his stmps!

I made this card for shoe box Sat.  Colors are one of my favorites together Cherry Cobbler and Almost Artichoke.  The dies are Prim Poppy and Ringed Buckle.  Sharon moved the buckle down closer to the bottom which looked better but I could not move mine because it is so thin, stays where you put it the first time.  This nestie is Detailed Scallops and is a bear to get all those little pieces out.  I ordered a metal shim which I hopes helps.  It's beautiful but tests my patience.

Here is Bobby's birthday card that I must get in the mail today.  I haven't done a masculine card in a long while.  He likes music so I thought he would get a kick out of this card.  Notice the black & brown Bakers Twine?  Sharon and I shared a spool.

Here's another card I made using Denise's bluebonnets  dies.  A couple of years ago when we still  had the RV we took 2 couples to Fredericksburg  and did a wine tasting tour.  That year we had lots of rain and the poppies and bluebonnets were beautiful growing together.  I remembered this and was inspired to make this make this card.  I really like these colors together, Almost Artichoke sand Cherry Cobbler.  The poppy is from Memory Makers.

Here is one of the Bluebonnet cards I made.  I like this one a lot!  All dies.  The bluebonnet is in two sizes.  This is  the larger one.

Rudy the Royal Rooster is finished!  I have promised myself that I will not do another project that takes over an hour and a half.  With the pearl boot and now Rudy I think I need to do less time consuming projects. Ta
Dah here he is

Yesterday I played with Denise's bluebonnet dies and had lots of fun with that but I had to post Rudy because I have never done anything like this before.

Sorry I am late in posting.  The contractor came, then the floor guy and the stucco people so I have not gotten to the computer until now.  I am playing with Denise's new Dead Beat Designs bluebonnet die. I can see it will  be a "must have"!  I am trying to get some bookmark cards done for the gift shop so here's one.  I used Almost Artichoke and ivory. The blue is a maverick piece I had.  Sure do wish Stampin
Up had not done away with Brilliant Blue.  It was perfect for bluebonnets.  This is by far the best design for the bookmark cards.  I did one where I just put a  slit in the paper and one where I used a built up border punch to hold the bookmark.  Oh, I forgot about the word window punch.  I need to do a couple more like that.

Monday, April 7, 2014

I got a swap card from  Liz using this design and I liked it so I decided to give it a try.  Here is the results.  The colors are bright and cheery I think.  My all consuming rooster is almost done.  Another trip to town for one  more pack of tacks, then I can finish it and try something new.  I am truly happy with him. Whomever buys it will have to go through a background check and possible an adoption process.  I think I need to name him.  I will have to get Joe's help on that .  He's the clever one around here.

Friday, April 4, 2014

I  have not been stamping much lately.  I need to get back into that.  Here is a project I spent many hours on.  My friend Sharon inspired me to do this.  She gave me a purple beaded boot  a few years ago and I am still enjoying it.  I needed to do something neutral  so I decided on pearls.  I love it.  I am posting it here because I don't know how to send a picture with this new Windows 8.1 and my sister wanted to see it.  It took 3 tubes of E6000 glue, 20 hours and no telling how many pearls & seed beads to fill in between the pearls.

Thursday, April 3, 2014

Here's my swap card.  I was just playing around and this is what I came up with.  No Cuttlebugging, very little stamping.  Whoops!  The butterfly was run through the bug.  Can't see it very well but I used the buckle die to thread the ribbon through.  Shows much better in real time.

Another  book mark card.  I used Ivory and Not Quite Navy.  The punched border holds the book mark in place.  I like the one I posted a few days ago that has the little pocket to hold the book mark.  I am going to make a few more of those in the next few days. The background stamp is Hero Arts and the flower is Magenta.

I have to make a couple of Thinking of you cards for a 2 of people who have had surgeries.  Here's one using Vellum for the flowers and coloring them with a dauber.  I put the color side up on this card because I wanted a lot of color.  The leaves were made with the StampinUp bird punch and then just drawing in the veins.  Three little pearls in each flower center just to change things up a bit.
