Here's another card we made in class. It is vanilla, black & hot pink. Lots of cutting out and check out the tiny button that is a die from StampinUp. The ribbon and the pink rhinestones are from the $ bin @ Mikes. The punch is Martha's. The Vintage Vogue flowers look nice embossed. Not sure I have ever embossed this set. My friend Julie had knee replacement this week so I am sending her this card and a note.

Here's a card from the class yesterday. Colors are Peach Parfit, navy, certainly celery and white. The stamp is a Penny black. My friend Sharon used ribbon this way at our last shoe box. I liked the way it looked. What you do is punch 2 holes about an inch or so apart. Thread the ribbon from the back in the hole closest to the top, then thread the other end through from the back also and secure both ends to the back.

I had a card class today. The focal point of this card was the Birthday saying, It is by Paper Inspirations and one that I use a lot. I used it as my swap card for this month. I have never embossed it that I can recall, gotta try that soon. I like the layout of this card. Cuttlebugged the red. This one came together very quickly.

Here's my swap card for June. I have had this "birthday" stamp for a long time. Bought it in Oregon. The stamp store was in a house. Every room was filled with stamps, stacked everywhere. Not necessarily the same stamp in each stack. Some might think it was a stampers dream when in reality it was overwhelming. It's the only stamp I bought. It is made by Paper Inspirations. The iris is a SU retired set that I will never part with. It's a set of 4 and my friend Denise, who is in one of my shoe boxes, showed me how to use markers to color the stamps and it looks sorta like water coloring. I did that on this stamp. Can't see the colors very well in the picture but I think it is pretty.

Here's the easel card I made for shoe box with the time theme. The gals had never made an easel card. They are easy and impressive I think. I used crumb cake & chocolate chip. The words background is a Rubbernecker cling stamp which stamps beautifully.

Here's a technique I tried. It is called Black Magic. Basically you use white ink on dark card stock, let it dry and color over the white ink. I used Stickles on the flowers. Cherry Cobbler, navy and suede would be nice to try. Probably Crumb Cake too! Guess if you use these other colors you could not call it black magic!

Here's a card I made using card parts. I just cut out the vase. The flower is from Great Impressions. I embossed it with black embossing powder but I bet that does not show up in the picture. The ribbon is from Mike's dollar bin. I like the Razzleberry & black together.

I received a swap card similar to this card several years ago. I have kept it. When going through my cards for Cards for Heroes I came across it. Decided to see if I could duplicate it. Here's the results. I used a marker to ink the stamps. The rose is a DeNami stamp that I have had for a long time. The ribbon was in my ribbon drawer.

I made this birthday card for my SIL. I bought some new stuff called Enamel Accents. Two in a pkg. for $5.95. One black and one white. It is like glossy accents which dries clear. I edged the die cut (new from Paper Trey Ink) with it. The ribbon is left over from a project I made @ Celia's. The ribbon was gathered and held in place by double sided tape. I couldn't get that to stay put so I redid the card and did not use the ribbon. The butterfly was added because I had a little smear of black ink there. Don't know how that happens, I think I need to look for ink on acrylic blocks. If you had a steady hand, which I don't, you could put dots and dashes on cards for accent. I'll give that a try sometime.

Here's the card I made yesterday & I am not sure if I will send it. Pretty different. The flame is the wing from the SU bird punch. The candles were made from DS that is also SU. Tell me what you think. The punch is one I don't use much but I really like it. The tent fold is one I should use more often. A trip to San Antonio today. Hope to get to Hobby Lobby. Michael's is a waste of time!

Today I made three cards for my VA birthdays. One I am not so sure of but I love the new stamp called Sail Away. I stamped in navy on crumb cake. Then I distressed it by running it through my crimper in all directions. Then I wadded it up, smoothed it out and mounted it on navy and then white. I took my StampinUp white gel pen and colored in some of the sails, just enough to make the sails look "used". Added a red banner stamped Happy Birthday on that and it's done. I have seen a lot of cards made with this stamp. It's going to be one of my fall back on favorites I am sure!

Our maintenance man down @ the point had 5 bypass surgery a couple of weeks ago. I have been sending him cards. He loves to fish so I pulled out this StampinUp stamp and made him this card. I don't usually put ribbons on guy cards but I thought it needed something & I liked the results.

This card was so easy to put together. It is white, Marina Mist, & Pear Pizzaz. I can't get too excited about this pear paper because it is only going to be around one more year. I checked and it is almost the same as Certainly Celery, just a tad darker or maybe just a little more depth in color. The stamp set is Vintage Vogue and the Nestie is Flur de Lis. I find that if I put a piece of waxed paper in the die then the paper it comes off the die a little better. I am using it and the Fancy Tags more since I read somewhere that it helps get the delicate cuts out better. Try it, it works. I do that also with the new doily dies I got from Paper Trey Ink. I also found out recently that on "solid" stamps I like the results better if I stamp off and then stamp onto whatever I am creating. Hope that makes sense. It's easy to make a flower & gives it some interest when you do that.
June 1, I must get my VA birthday cards started.
Have a happy day!!
