Alex's birthday card

Here's Alex's birthday card. I guess you could say I am into circles. You can't see the "celebrate" too well in the picture. I liked the way it turned out too. I bought this stamp in the $$ bin @ Mike's, It really stamps well. Makes me think I should search the $$ bin more often. The boys both told me how much they enjoyed the cards I make for them. At 20 that says something doesn't it?

BJ's birthday card

Here's the card I made for Benjamin. I really liked the way it turned out. Using all those prints was a challenge for me. I had to play around with the prints before I was satisfied with the results. The background is a Tim Holtz embossing folder that is brick. I like that a lot.

Merry Christmas

This is not a very good picture. My photo skills have not improved over this past year!!This was the inside & front of our Christmas card for this year. The card is black and gold with vanilla on the inside. I was afraid I was going to run out of black so I was prepared to do it is navy and silver. That would look nice too I think.

Thanks for visiting my blog this past year. I would love some feed back on the cards I make. I know my friends look from time to time & others too.

Any way, I hope you have a nice Christmas and we wish you a healthy, happy new year.

Linda

I hope y'all are ready for Christmas. All I have to do is bake. This is a card I made for the VA birthdays. It is Marina Mist, chocolate chip and suede. Pretty simple.

Another Sheo Box card

I love this gingham paper. Coupled with Cherry Cobbler, makes for a great card. The doilie die is from Paper Trey Ink. The ribbon is seam binding by StampinUp. It ravels badly but I love the color.

Shoe box cards

Here are a couple of cards I did for shoe box that I have not posted. I decided to use the same stamp for both cards. They sure do look different. I bought the copper paper @ XPedX in Austin a long time ago. Can you ever go wrong with cherry cobbler and crumb cake? I don't think so.

Another Masculine Thank You card

Here's another thank you card I made for a man that did a lot of work for the bazaar. Red & Crumb Cake. I liked the way it turned out except for the anchor. Had to put that on to hide an ink smudge. I hate it when that happens.

Thank you note

Here's a card I did for a thank you note I needed for a guy who helped with the bazaar. The stamp is from a $ bin @ Michaels. It made a nice card and stamps very easy. You'll see it again as a birthday card for my VA buddies.

Tuesday, December 13, 2011

Here's a birthday card I made using Not Quite Navy and Rose Red. I really like this color combo and the silver thread adds a lot IMHO. The Hero Arts stamp is stamped with Rose Red ink. Happy Birthday of course is inked with NQN.

I got my Christmas cards mailed this morning. That is always a relief. I mailed Ally's card & a couple more birthday cards done yesterday and mailed also. Now I need to get Alex and Benjamin's cards made. What a shame to have your birthday 4 days before Christmas. I need to get started on my Dec. VA cards. I have this one ready to send out & only have 5 or 6 to do this month. Here's the one I have ready to go out. This trim is on a roll like stickers. Very easy to use. Someone @ the point gave it to me, I have it in gold also. Easy card that came together very quickly.

Thank you note

I needed some thank you notes for some of the men that helped with the bazaar. Here's one that I used from a swap I received several yrs. ago. Wish I had this stamp to use for the VA guys. The background is made from a can of spray paint. It was the rage when I first started stamping. I think I still have some of it someplace. Does that mean I have too much stuff??? Porbably!

Monday, December 5, 2011

Here's a Va card that I did not care that much for but I used it anyway. It is navy & white.

Friday, December 2, 2011

Here's my shoe box card for Nov. I needed a sympathy card so I used it as my shoe box card. Navy and Pear. I have had this Penny Black stamp for a long time. I still like it a lot. I think sympathy cards need to be simple and elegant. Hope I achieved that with this design.

Hill Country Diamond Pin

Here's a gag gift that I made for the bazaar @ the point. They sold out quickly!!

I'm back

I am back from Ca. and had a very nice trip. We thought that flying home on Thanksgiving the air planes would be less crowded. Not so. It was a very long day. Celia did this card and I loved the simplicity of it. Here's my version. I made mine stamping the leaf and then stamping the music ov er the leaf. This was a little tricky since my stamp is much bigger than the leaf. I got lucky!! I used the music stamp on the inside and "Happy Birthday To You" stamp that I rarely use. I liked inking up an acrylic block, also liked using my crimper to make this design. That is a great technique for masculine cards

This is another VA card. I'm not sure that I like it but I sent it anyway. I think I like the inside better than the outside LOL. It's Not Quite Navy, crumb cake and Really Rust. Almost out of the retired rust.

Thursday, November 17, 2011

Here's one of my favorite Va cards for November. I love the checked paper and really liked the way this one turned out.

Wednesday, November 16, 2011

Another VA card. I am going to have to get busy and make some cards. This is the last one that I have not shown you. It is burgundy navy and Confetti white. The tag stamp is one of my favorites. Easy to use on masculine cards.

Tuesday, November 15, 2011

Here's another simple birthday card I made for my VA Nov. birthdays. Not too many this month which was good because I was very busy with the bazaar. The paper is from Hobby Lobby and the cup cake I have had for a long time. Easy!

Saturday, November 12, 2011

Here's another VA card. I love the paper, I think I bought it @ Joann's in Houston. This is such a pretty stamp, one that I have had for almost as long as I have been stamping. It looks wonderful embossed in gold.

Wednesday, November 9, 2011

Here's another VA card. Very simple. I love this striped paper. The saying is from StampinUp. I am going to work on my idea for our Christmas cards today & get ready for our last of the year meeting tomorrow @ the point. Wish me luck on both those endeavors!!

Tuesday, November 8, 2011

Another VA card. Very simple but I like it. The bazaar is over and we did much better this year. This is a stamp I use a lot as you have probably noticed. It is from Viva Las Vegas. Have you ever been there? What an experience. You have to get buzzed in the door (tells you what a good neighborhood it is in). There are rooms of stamps & I think I only bought this one stamp as I was overwhelmed. The guy that owns the place had at least 5 dogs and that many cats in the place. Grossed me out with his bare feet and long toenails! To each his own I say.

Saturday, November 5, 2011

Here's my swap card for October. I used Distress inks to make the background then I stamped the leaf randomly and then embossed with clear powder. Did you know that the distress inks can be embossed? I used old olive ink to ink the leaves and then cut them out. I liked the results.

Different colors

Here's a card I made for my VA buddies. The colors are blue, lime green & black. Doesn't show up very well but it was a great color combo. The lime green and blue were laying in my scrap assortment and I thought humm that looks good together. The blue is not Marina Mist but is very close.

Falling leaves

Here's a card I made for a thank you I needed. The copper leaves are embossed with black powder and of course the background is cuttled. I made a similar card years ago and won in a contest. I used wide grosgrain ribbon instead of the black strip. It looks really good in real life.

Nathan's birthday card

Here's a card I made for Nathan's birthday and also used it for one of my shoe box exchange cards. I saw these colors used on someone's blog. Very nice together, cherry cobbler, crumb cake and black. The theme for shoe box was masculine cards so this is one I made. This is such a nice stamp, one I will use a lot. It is a StampinUp one that was in the mini catalog. I was surprised that it did not make it to the big catalog.

Thank you note

Here's another thank you note that I made. Got the design from Pam.

Saturday, October 22, 2011

I don't think I have shown this card I made for the VA guys. The paper is some that Celia gave me. She's so thoughtful, every piece was masculine looking. I very seldom try matching paper patterns but I thought this turned out well. Helps if the paper is double sided, takes all the guess work out!

Wednesday, October 19, 2011

Here's my swap card for to Liz Marcy. I bought this background paper in Houston a while ago. I was in the mood for fall, thought if I made a fall card it would not seem so hot. I used a Rubbernecker stamp for the background and used yellow and orange chalk to color it. The leaf stamp is one I have had forever.

Another Thank You card

This card I made using crumb cake and cherry cobbler. I needed several thank you cards, I liked the way this turned out.

Thank You notes

Here's a Thank you note I made. Can't really see the colors but it is dark green and gold. The wreath is embossed with gold embossing powder. Was a really pretty card but5 did not show up well. Probably due to the poor photographer!

Friday, October 14, 2011

Here's a card made for one of the V A birthdays. I have not used this MS punch in awhile. Pretty simple card, chocolate and saffron. This is a DeNami stamp that I bought when I first started stampin. I have used it a lot.

Wednesday, October 12, 2011

Here's a card I made for the VA guys before we left. I made 6 and have 7 more to make for this month. I need to get stampin! Hopefully today. The colors are different for me but I liked the way it turned out. Pam gave me this bakers twine and I thought it turned out well. Hope you like it.

We're back

We are back from our cruise. Had a good time but was disappointed with the cruise line. We had bad weather so we missed 2 ports. Instead we went up and down the St Lawrence river. The leaves were just starting to turn a little so we missed that too. I am ready to get back to some stamping!

Here's my swap card for Oct. I changed it up a bit. I didn't like the birthday saying so I stamped it on white with black ink and backed it with black paper. I thought it looked better. I guess I did not take a picture of it so y'all have to use your imagination. This technique is old and I have not done it in a long time. Simple but very effective.

Ready for fall

Here's a card I made this week for one of the VA birthdays. Can you tell I am ready for fall? I sure would not want to cut out many of those leaves.

Julie's birthday card

Here's a card I made for Julie for her birthday. I've had this ribbon for a long, long time. The stamp is from Endless Creations. They have really nice stamps.

Thursday, September 22, 2011

second shoe box card

Here's the other card I made for shoe box last Sat. I really like the half circle copper piece. The stamp is a PSX one that I got when I first started stamping. I really like the fine details of this stamp.

Wednesday, September 21, 2011

shoe box card

Saturday was one of my shoe box exchanges. I made this card. My favorite colors. Purple and yellow. The flower hold the flap in place. That's the last of that paper boo ho! There's scraps and I have some ribbon that matches fairly well. Maybe I can scrape together another card. We'll see.

Tuesday, September 20, 2011

Thank You notes

I have several thank you notes that I need to write to people whom were instrumental in making our fashion show and luncheon a hugh success. Here's the first one I made using a scrap of paper and my new StampinUp Lace Ribbon Border punch. The flower is from the Fifth Ave. Floral stamp set.

Monday, September 19, 2011

Here's another VA guy card I made for last month. I like the stamp but have not used it much. I am not particularly happy with this card but hopefully the person who received it will like it. Some times cards come together easily and sometimes not! I am sure each of you have experienced that.

Sunday, September 18, 2011

I am behind on my posting. I am trying to get some cards made before our cruise. I need to have some VA cards done and my twin Patty's birthday card not to mention one for Joe. Here's a recent VA birthday card. Sahara Sand & navy, aalways a nice color combo.

Wednesday, September 14, 2011

Swap card

Here's the swap card I did for Marcy & Liz. I used my new Nestie called Beaded Ovals. The stamp set is new also. A StampinUp set called Fabulous Florets which you are going to see a lot of. The sentiment is also StampinUp called Thanks for Caring.

Playing with a new technique

Here's something I tried that was simple. Probably would not work with some stamps but was OK with this on. I stamped the trees and then turned it around and stamped the image again without reinking. I have seen instructions where the stamp was stamped and then stamped again on tissue paper and glued down. I did not have tissue paper. I used a Nestie to cut out the shape. It's long gone to the VA hospital. I used a blue stamp pad and a blender pen to color the water.

Monday, September 12, 2011

I cased this card. Sharon did a layout like this for one of our shoe box exchanges. I liked it a lot so I changed the colors and sent it off to the VA. It's a great way to use up small scraps of paper. The stamp I used is from a set called Birthday Bliss. It is a retired SU set.
